Serving in the Peace Corps in Korea several decades ago was a life-altering experience. During my visits to Buddhist and Taoist temples and monasteries there, the pervasive ambience of peace, clarity, simplicity, and equanimity I found among the monks impressed me deeply. Since then, as other responsibilities have shifted and diminished, my private and sangha practices have taken central importance.
